Jerry Garcia Memorial Fundraiser: A Web-First Virtual Tribute

In honor of the late Jerry Garcia, this project was intended as an immersive, VR-enabled virtual fundraiser that celebrated his legacy while supporting philanthropic causes close to his heart. Although the event itself was not realized, the project established an interactive, web-first experience showcasing custom assets and memorable environments designed to engage a global audience.

My Expertise

1. Crafting a Custom, Themed Map
Leveraging Babylon.js, I created a fully immersive and interactive 3D world accessible directly through the browser. This allowed users to experience high-quality graphics without the need for high-end hardware or additional downloads. By focusing on browser accessibility, Aeon World became a truly democratized metaverse experience, making it more widely available and engaging.
2. Web-First VR Experience
The entire experience was built using Babylon.js, making it accessible directly from the web without the need for dedicated VR hardware. This approach provided a seamless experience for users across all devices, from desktop to mobile, democratizing the event’s reach and accessibility.
3. Interactive VR Presentation for Stakeholders
To demonstrate the concept, I created a VR presentation that stakeholders could explore, allowing them to fully experience the event’s potential. This interactive presentation helped convey the immersive quality of the digital space, showing how it could function as a venue for engagement, storytelling, and fundraising. The VR presentation captured everything from event flow to key gathering spots in the virtual world, giving a comprehensive view of the proposed event.
4. Tribute Through Design
Staying true to the memory of Jerry Garcia, each design element was purposefully selected to convey meaning and celebrate his legacy. I approached the project with a philosophy of "design with substance," ensuring every detail served the event's larger purpose, honoring Garcia's influence while creating a meaningful experience for users.
